Prattville’s 175th Year Celebration & Musgrove Fountain Rededication
September 12, 2014
We blocked off Main & Court Streets from Bridge Street to Tichnor in order to celebrate Prattville’s 175th year since Daniel Pratt founded this amazing city. We also had the Musgrove Fountain refurbished. Robinson Iron picked it up on July 9th, 2014 and returned it on the morning of September 12th, 2014. They gave it a complete overhaul and made it new again. LED lights were added to each level (except the top) and at night, it is now a thing of beauty to behold.
The fountain was donated to the City by Gordon and Kathleen Musgrove in 1989. 25 years later, Rex and Loxie Musgrove, their children and grandchildren were present for the rededication. Gordon and Kathleen’s great-grandchildren flipped the switch to turn the fountain back on.
Former mayors C. Gray Price and Jim Byard, 1989 City Councilors (and current Council President) Willie Wood, Jr., Sid Thompson, and George Walthall, Jr., sitting Councilors Jerry Starnes, Clyde Chambliss, and Lora Lee Boone all spoke at the event. Other dignitaries present were City Councilor Pro Tempore Albert Striplin and Autauga County Board of Education Superintendent Spence Agee.
It was a blessed event followed by a street concert. We thank all involved for joining us in making more historic memories for the residents of Prattville.
